Asked before every job
What people ask before we get on the roof.
We have been doing this out of the same Norman location since 1969, so most of what comes up has come up before. Below are the questions we hear most, grouped by what you are actually trying to figure out: what we cover, what a repair or replacement call looks like, and what the office runs like day to day.
What we cover, and what we don't
We install and repair architectural shingle, cedar shake, and wood shake roofing. The one thing we won't do is metal, and we would rather tell you that up front than take the job and steer you toward something we don't stand behind. See the full list on our services page.
Repairs, replacement, and insurance
The honest answer to "repair or replace" depends on what is actually happening up there, and insurance claims run on their own timeline. Here is how we handle both. More detail lives on roof repairs, roof replacement and storm damage repair.
Signs a roof is telling you it needs replacing, not patching
- Damaged or missing shingles
- Light coming through the roof deck
- A drooping roof deck
- Shingle granules collecting in the gutters
- Water stains on ceilings or walls
- An unexpected rise in energy costs
Any one of these on its own is worth a look. A few of them together usually means replacement is the sounder call, and we will say so plainly rather than sell a repair we don't believe in.
What an inspection actually checks
A roof can look fine from the driveway and still be failing where you can't see it. Our roof inspection service goes through the same six checks every time:
- Comprehensive visual inspections
- Advanced moisture detection
- Structural integrity checks
- Thorough attic examinations
- Gutter and downspout assessments
- Flashing and sealant inspections
